Your Energy is Always Talking. Are you listening?
May 27, 2026
Introducing a new series on the invisible forces shaping your performance — and your results.
I want to ask you something — and I want you to sit with it for a second before you answer.
When you walk into a meeting, pick up the phone to follow up, or sit down to plan your week — what energy are you bringing with you?
Not what you're saying. Not what you're doing. What you're radiating.
Here's what I know after 26 years in this business and over a decade of coaching mortgage sales professionals: people don't just respond to your words or your strategy. They respond to your energy. Every single time.
Your energy is always communicating — whether you're aware of it or not. The question is whether it's working for you or against you.
That's what this new series — Energy in Motion — is all about.
Before I go further, I want to give credit where it's due. The Energy Leadership framework that forms the foundation of this series is based on concepts developed by Bruce D. Schneider and the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC). What I'm sharing here is my own interpretation and application of that work — translated specifically for the world of mortgage sales. These principles have been a cornerstone of my own development as a coach and a leader, and I'm excited to share how they can elevate the way you perform.
Over the coming weeks, we're going to explore the energy influencers — the specific forces that shape the energy you bring to your work, your relationships, and your results. Each one is worth examining on its own. And each one, when you learn to work with it intentionally, becomes a lever for real and lasting performance.
This isn't surface-level motivation. This is the inside work — the kind that actually sticks.
What are the energy influencers?
Think of them as the inputs that determine the quality of energy you're operating from on any given day. Some are physical. Some are mental. Some live in your environment or your relationships. But all of them matter — and most people have never stopped to examine how profoundly they're being shaped by them.
In mortgage and real estate sales, where your presence, your focus, and your consistency are everything — understanding what fuels your energy and what drains it isn't a nice-to-have. It's a competitive advantage.
Your assignment this week
Before we dive into the first energy influencer next week, I want you to start building the most important skill in this entire series: awareness.
Three times a day this week — morning, midday, and end of day — stop for sixty seconds and ask yourself: What is my energy right now?
You don't need to fix it. You don't need to judge it. Just name it. Flat. Anxious. Fired up. Distracted. Calm. Present.
Whatever is true in that moment — notice it and name it.
You cannot change what you cannot see. And this simple practice is going to make everything we cover in this series land so much deeper.
What's coming
Next week we start with the mental energy influencer — the one I see shaping performance more than almost anything else in the professionals I coach. I think it's going to stop some of you in your tracks. In the best possible way.
Stay with me for this one. It's going to be worth it.
