The Power of Win-Win-Win Thinking

May 28, 2025

This week, we move into Habit 3: Put First Things First, which is all about living in alignment with that vision. It’s the shift from planning your priorities to prioritizing your plans. It's where intention becomes action.

For mortgage banking sales professionals, putting first things first means prioritizing the proactive, intentional actions that grow your business and deepen your impact. It’s not about being busy—it’s about being effective.

Here are some examples of “first things” that support

For loan officers, putting first things first means prioritizing the proactive, intentional actions that grow your business and deepen your impact. It’s not about being busy—it’s about being effective.

Here are a few examples of “first things” that support consistent growth:

  • Reaching out to top referral partners and prospects with value, updates, or insight—consistently

  • Creating a weekly content plan and showing up online with market insight, success stories, or education that positions you as a trusted advisor

  • Following up with leads from open houses, events, or past campaigns systematically

  • Requesting reviews from happy clients and turning them into social proof

  • Carving out time to plan or attend events that increase your visibility and credibility

  • Investing 30 minutes to learn something that could make your process better or your communication more impactful

These are rarely urgent—but they are the activities that build momentum, expand your influence, and make future results easier to achieve.

So here's the question for reflection:

  • Am I  spending my best time and energy on the things that matter most—or just the things that feel most urgent?

  • What’s one proactive action I’ve been postponing that deserves to be moved to the top of my list?

Habit 3 invites us to operate from Quadrant II—the zone of important but not urgent tasks: relationship building, long-term planning, personal renewal, skill development. These are the needle-movers, but they’re easy to delay because they don’t shout for our attention.

You don’t have to do it all—just do what matters most, first.

Keep showing up. You’re building something intentional.
