Habit 6: Synergy
Jun 25, 2025
This series is meant to spark reflection, challenge the way you think, and—most importantly—turn awareness into action. Share it if it hits. Use it if it helps. Either way, this space is here to stretch you.
This week we’re stepping into Habit 6: Synergize—which, in simple terms, means collaborate in a way that creates something better than any of us could produce alone.
This isn’t about compromising. It’s about creative cooperation—leveraging different strengths, perspectives, and experiences to unlock results neither side could access on their own.
It’s not compromise. It’s not consensus.
It’s creative collaboration—where 1 + 1 equals 3… or more. (And no, I haven’t forgotten basic math—it just works differently when people actually work together :-)
Synergy isn’t soft. It’s a performance accelerator.
Here’s what it really looks like:
-
The client conversation where their clarity deepens because of the way you listened and reflected back—not just what they said, but what they meant. They leave more certain, and more confident, than they were when they walked in.
-
The strategy session where you and a colleague are firing on all cylinders—pushing each other’s thinking, playing off each other’s strengths, and building something neither of you could’ve pulled off solo.
-
The referral partnership that becomes a true growth engine because you’re not just trading business—you’re co-creating a shared reputation, showing up for each other’s goals, and making each other better.
-
The moment in a meeting where tension leads to breakthrough—not because someone backed down, but because both sides stayed in it long enough to get to something new.
That’s synergy.
It’s the energy that gets created when people bring their full selves, stay open, and combine forces in pursuit of something bigger than their individual wins.
It requires trust. Curiosity. And the courage to be influenced.
Synergy demands humility. It requires listening, curiosity, and a willingness to admit you don’t have the whole picture—but together, you might just find something bigger.
This week, ask yourself:
-
Where am I trying to do things alone that could be exponentially better if I pulled in another perspective?
-
Who challenges me—but could also sharpen me—if I leaned into the tension instead of resisting it?
-
What outcome in my business or leadership would be impossible without true collaboration?
Here’s the challenge:
What’s one relationship I’ve been treating transactionally that I could turn into a true partnership? And what would I need to do differently for that to happen?
Elite performers don’t go further alone. They learn how to create synergy on purpose—and turn collaboration into a competitive advantage.
Keep raising your standard. The next level of growth usually shows up disguised as someone else’s insight.
